I spent many summers teaching Bernie’s grandkids swimming lessons. Those summers were full of laughter and joy. Bernie loved to watch Sylvie and Lincoln swim laps in his and Cindy’s backyard. He always had a smile on his face and a piece of wisdom to share with me. I will always appreciate how welcoming he was to me. His encouragement for me to travel as much as possible when I’m young inspired many of my adventures. I know his absence is felt deeply by all. I will always cherish those summers by the pool with his family.
